Stevia has gained favor in various countries, and research has successively begun on the cultivation of stevia monomers, the separation and purification of effective components, biological fermentation production, and product applications.
2000
Stevia has been promoted and applied in major countries around the world, widely used in various foods, medicines, and cosmetics.
1995
The separation and extraction of various components of stevia sugar has entered the era of large-scale production, and stevia has been promoted in developed countries such as Europe, America, and Japan for its natural, healthy, safe, and zero-calorie properties.
1992
Research and development of new technologies for crystallizing stevia sugar and separating and extracting various components of stevia have been introduced in China, achieving the stage of large-scale production.
1990
New technologies for asexual reproduction planting of stevia have been introduced, promoting the cultivation of high RA component varieties of stevia through seedling cuttings in China.
1983
China independently developed the separation and extraction process technology for stevia sugar and achieved large-scale production in Jining, Shandong; from then on, China entered a period of great development for stevia, becoming a global base for the planting, processing, and export of stevia.
1982
Countries such as Japan and South Korea have successively begun to research biological enzyme methods to modify stevia sugar to solve the aftertaste of bitterness.
1976
China introduced stevia, conducting small-scale trial planting in regions such as Guangdong and Jiangsu, and successfully promoted large-scale planting in the Jiangnan region.
1970
Japan began to introduce and domesticate stevia, developing technologies for the purification and separation of stevia, and promoting its application in Japan.
1931
French scientists successfully isolated steviol glycosides from sweet leaf in the laboratory.
1899
Swiss botanist Moises Santiago Bertoni studied the characteristics and sweetness of the stevia plant, officially naming it Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni.
500 years ago
Spanish botanist Petrus Jacobus Stevus studied the classification of the stevia genus and named it Stevia.
1500 years ago
Indigenous people in South America discovered stevia in the Amambay mountain range at the border of Paraguay and Brazil, using it as sweet tea and medicinal material.
